Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Martin's Catholic Church, Cascade. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Cascade, with full military honors accorded by the Cascade American Legion Post 528. He was born on Feb. 1, 1924, in Cascade, son of Felix and Anna (Neyens) Felton. He married Mary Jane Lahr on Jan. 16, 1947, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Sand Springs, Iowa. He received his education at the former St. Mary's High School, Cascade. He was a World War II Army Veteran, having seen action in the Philippines and Japan. He was a life member of the 32nd Infantry Division Red Arrow, and also served in the 25th Tropic Lightning Division. He was a member of St. Matthias Parish, Cascade, a member of the Cascade American Legion Post 528, for which he served as commander in 1988 and served as president on the Freedom Flag Board and Cemetery Board. He was a member of the Cascade Sportsman's Club, he served on the Board of Directors for six years. He was president of the Iowa State Fox Hunters Association for three years and was president and secretary treasurer of the Northeast Iowa Fox Hunters Association. He was a member and secretary of the Turkey Valley, Wisconsin State, North Missouri State and Southern Iowa State Indian Hills Fox Hunters Association. He was an avid sportsman and outdoors enthusiast. Surviving are his wife, Mary Jane Felton, Cascade; seven children, Patti (Larry) Volk, of Cascade, Don (Jenni) Felton, of Hopkinton, Dennis (Glady) Felton, of Dyersville, Sharon Spear (Ed Groth), of North Liberty, Lester (Susan) Felton, of Bernard, Jean (Vic) Thier, of Bernard, and Jim (Sue) Felton, of Cascade; 21 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Mary Duffy, of Cascade, Hilda Macomber, of Blue Grass, Garaldine Offerman, of Monticello, and Irene DeMent, of Dubuque. He was preceded in death by a son, LeRoy; his parents; three brothers, Jack, Nick and Ed Felton; and a sister, Margaret Demmer. A Joseph C. Felton Memorial Fund has been established.
