Born November 29, 1938, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late Joseph C. Taylor, Sr. and Alma (Lister) Taylor. He was retired from the U.S. Army after 21 years of service where he served three tours in Europe, two tours in Vietnam, and one tour in Korea. Born November 29, 1938, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late Joseph C. Taylor, Sr. and Alma (Lister) Taylor. Jones and her husband Ricky of Cowpens, Veronica T. Fowler and her husband Doug of Blacksburg, and Elaine C. Lytle of Cowpens; a brother, Horace Lister of Greenville; six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was predeceased by his sister, Carolyn T. Newman. Cryptside services were held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2008, at Good Shepherd Memorial Park Mausoleum conducted by Dr. Robert W. Kirby, Jr. The family received friends from 3:00-3:45 p.m. prior to the service at the cryptside. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
