Following the complaint of an ailment at about 10:30 the previous evening he rapidly became worse and died at 1:25 a.m., death being attributable to Cardiac Neuritis or paralysis of the heart. Joseph Carroll was born May 30, 1849, at Scranton, Penn. He was married to Anna Kane, February 11th 1880, and who preceded him in death in May, 1916. Those surviving are: Charles Carroll of Ekalaka, Mont., Mrs. Benj Reese, Salt Lake City, Utah, Mrs. CW Nies, Sioux City, IA, Will Carroll, Creighton, Joe Carroll, Ekalaka, Mont., Mrs. Henry Goetsch, George, Gerald and Edmund Carroll of Huntington Beach, California. He is also survived by three sisters residing in California, a brother in New Jersey, and another in Lynch, Nebraska. Being in his 74th year of age, Joseph Carroll was very active and participated in the usual routine of superintending the ranch which was thoroughly equipped and on which was such live stock. He homesteaded southwest of Creighton and during his lifetime acquired additional land holdings. He contributed much to the community in that he made a ready home market and through his operations absorbed uch of the livestock and feed for such throughout the countryside. The funeral was held in Creighton, Monday morning from St. Ludger's church. Father Windolph Celebrating the requiem ass and conducting the funeral services. Interment was made in St. Ludger's cemetery.
