Mr. Cuda's death was due to ailments attendant to old age. A brief service was held at the late residence in the Third ward of this city Monday morning, the Rev. Father Charles Oborny of St. Mary's church officiating. The funeral rites were conducted at St. Mary's church at nine o'clock with the celebration of the requiem mass by Father Oborny who also delivered an appropriate funeral discourse. Interment was made in the Catholic parish cemetery at Abie, where rest the remains of the first wife who passed away at Abie in 1911. Mr. Cuda was a native of Bohemia. He was born on March 25, 1849 and was 80 years, 7 months and 17 days of age at the time of his death. He came to America when about seventeen years of age and became a resident of Butler county, Nebraska. He resided on a farm near Abie until 1913 when he moved to Schuyler. His first wife was Miss Mary Turek. He was united in marriage to Mrs. Josephine Otradovsky at Schuyler on May 17, 1913. The two wives were sisters. Surviving are the widow, an adopted daughter, Mrs. Edward Shonka of Surprise and five stepchildren. They are Mrs. A. V. Kovar, Mrs. Charles Mastny, Charles Otradovsky of Oakland, California, and Mrs. Edward Lence of Chicago. Mr. Cuda was engaged in farming near Abie, in Butler county for a number of years. He was a gentleman who was very well though of in the communities in which he resided. __________________ Butler County Press (David City, Nebr.), November 28, 1929, p. 6, col. 5 Abie Joseph Cuda, a former resident of Abie, died at his home in Schuyler Thursday, Nov. 21. Mr. Cuda was about 80 years old. He was twice married. His first wife died some 17 years ago. His second wife survives. Funeral services were held at St. Mary's church in Schuyler. Burial was in the Catholic cemetery at Abie.
