Description	:	JOSEPH DONALD SIMPSON Joseph Donald Simpson, the seventh child of Jesse and Mary (Turpin) Simpson was born April 7th, 1901, near Pleasanton, Iowa. He departed this life June 25, 1981, at the Decatur County Hospital at the age of 80 years, 2 months, and 18 days. Joe spent most of his life in and around Decatur County. Read More	JOSEPH DONALD SIMPSON Joseph Donald Simpson, the seventh child of Jesse and Mary (Turpin) Simpson was born April 7th, 1901, near Pleasanton, Iowa. He departed this life June 25, 1981, at the Decatur County Hospital at the age of 80 years, 2 months, and 18 days. Joe spent most of his life in and around Decatur County. He carried the honor of being the oldest Car Dealer of Decatur County for many years. In younger years, Joe was a cook at the fraternity house at Ames College, Ames, Iowa. He also cooked for the R.L.D.S. Church reunions when they were held at the South Woods. Joe spent many years as an outstanding painter and paper hanger of the Lamoni Community. He owned and operated several cafes besides being a used car dealer. He was a member of the R. L.D.S. Church. As a young boy, he was baptized by the late Wilbur Prall. He attended school near Pleasanton. On November 18, 1932, Joe was united in marriage to Leota Elliott. To this union one daughter, Darlene Green was born. By previous marriage, Joe had two daughters, Irene Martin and Wands DeBaets. Joe was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers and one sister. Survivors include his wife, Leota; three daughters, and their companions, Irene Martin and Robert of Garden Grove, Calif.; Wends DeBaets and George of Garden Grove. Calif.; Darlene Greet and Harold of Lamoni, Iowa; two brothers, Art Simpson and wife Irene of Leon, Iowa; Ray Simpson and wife Josephene of Tarkio, Mo.; one sister, Blanche Mitchell of Osceola, Iowa; 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Due to bad health, Joe's last years were very weary for him, but his love and concern for his family and his affection for his grandchildren and his many friends (young as well as older people), gave Joe a drive and desire to live. He was a dear companion, Dad, and grandfather, and he will be missed by all that knew him. Funeral services, under the direction of the Lamoni Funeral Home, were held Saturday, June 27, 1981, at 2:00 p.m. from the Lamoni R.L.D.S. Church. Officiating were Elders Robert B. Hynden and Daniel 0. Long. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
