Joseph Duane Cooper was born in 1925 in DeWitt, Iowa to Matthew and Viona Cooper. During WW II he served with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater. Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, Joe was united in marriage to Clara Bell Chandler on May 11, 1946. She preceded him in death on June 12, 2007. Best¬ known as a builder and craftsman, Joe owned Cooper Custom Builders in Davenport and built both homes and commercial buildings until retiring in 1990. He had been a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Davenport, the Knights of Columbus (4th degree), and the American Legion. Survivors include his sons and daughters-¬in--law, William T. and JoRae Cooper of Azle, TX and Joe M. and Gay Cooper of Prescott Valley, AZ; four grandchildren; and nine great-¬grandchildren. In addition to his wife Clara, he was preceded in death by five infant children; brothers Donald Cooper and William Cooper; and sisters Geri Wyatt and Marci Eckermann.
