Read More	Joseph E. Miller Obit Joseph E. Miller, 89, passed away Wednesday at the Warren Memorial Hospital in Friend. He had been in poor health for several years. Funeral service were held Sunday afternoon at the Milford Assembly of God Church with Rev. E. C. Bishop officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant View Cemetery southwest of Milford. Joseph E. Miller, son of Joseph and Elizabeth Sutter Miller, was born on December 2, 1859 near Meadows, Illinois, and died at the Warren Memorial Hospital in Friend, Nebraska on July 28, at the age of 89 years, 7 months, and 28 days. He was the last member of his immediate family to answer the final summons. His father passed away when he was only five years of age, thus being deprived of a father's much needed care. His great handicap in life was that he was born a deaf mute. But in spite of that handicap he spent some years in the school for the deaf at Jacksonville, Illinois and received a grade school education which aided him much in his journey through life. Uncle Joe spent much of his life alone, as he never married. As a young man he came west and lived some years in Kansas, then came to Nebraska to be near his relatives. After a few years he moved to Phoenix, Arizona, then back to Milford, Nebraska, and finally to Van Nuys, California where he lived about thirty years. He spent his last three year with his nephews and nieces in Nebraska and the Warren Memorial Hospital in Friend, where the end came last Wednesday night. Uncle Joe found Jesus as his Savior when quite a young man and his delight was to attend religious services in the House of God, specially services for deaf mutes. In his last days he often longed to once again gather with the deaf to worship God. He longed for Heaven, spoke of Heaven, and dreamed of Heaven.
