Description	:	Adams County Free Press February 15, 1940 Joseph Eblen, son of Joseph and Elizabeth Lindley Elben, was born in Mahaska County, Iowa on November 12, 1871 and died at his home in Creston, Iowa on Saturday evening at seven o'clock. He was 68 years, 3 months, and 25 days. Mr. Eblen was two years old when he came to Cass County and resided in this vicinity until May of 1939 when he moved to Creston. He was 68 years, 3 months, and 25 days. Mr. Eblen was two years old when he came to Cass County and resided in this vicinity until May of 1939 when he moved to Creston. He was married to Mary Jane Potter on October 30, 1901. She survives him. The children, Earl Eblen of Orient; Mrs. Earl Wright of Creston; and Roland Eblen of Cumberland survive him. He is also survived by ten grandchildren. There were twelve children in his family. Two brothers, William Eblen of Cumberland and Zenith Eblen of Benson, Minnesota; and two sisters, E Landon of Cumberland and Etta Cannor of Elliot survive. The deceased brothers are: John Eblen, Demas Eblen, Abraham Eblen, Jacob Eblen. Three sisters are also deceased; two in infancy and on dying at 8 years of age. Mr. Eblen has been a farmer all his life until about a year ago when he left the farm. During that time he has been a devoted husband and father and helpful neighbor. He was never so happy as when he had his children and grandchildren gathered under his roof for a family gathering. Almost a year ago his health began to fail and he has grown gradually worse until his death Saturday. He was always patient in his sufferings and considerate of those who cared for him. Funeral services were held at the Victoria Methodist church, Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock. Burial was made in Victoria Cemetery.
