Description	:	Joseph Eugene Bennett, Sr., 69, son of James W. & Elsie (Gilbert) Bennett, Sr., was born January 4, 1946 in Des Moines, Iowa. He passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at his home. Joseph graduated from Panora-Linden High School in 1965. He then was drafted into the United States Army on October 25, 1967 serving in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged on May 26, 1969. Read More	Joseph Eugene Bennett, Sr., 69, son of James W. & Elsie (Gilbert) Bennett, Sr., was born January 4, 1946 in Des Moines, Iowa. He passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at his home. Joseph graduated from Panora-Linden High School in 1965. He then was drafted into the United States Army on October 25, 1967 serving in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged on May 26, 1969. He later served in the Iowa Army National Guard for 12 years, receiving his honorable discharge from the United States Air Force on February 9, 1985. On August 2, 1975, he married Michele Huntley in Des Moines, Iowa. They made their home in Des Moines until 1979. They then moved to Linden, Iowa, then to Panora, Iowa, and back to Linden, Iowa. Joseph worked at various jobs until his retirement in 1993. Joseph was a member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church, Panora and past president of the local chapter of Thrivent Financial. He was a Boy Scout Leader and helper. He enjoyed being apart of Brittany, Nicholas, and Adely Parker's lives. He was also a past member of the Panora Lions Club. He is survived by his wife Michele Bennett of Panora; daughters, Veronica Bennett of Linden and Ruth Nguyen of Des Moines; son, Joseph Bennett, Jr. of Linden; grandchildren, Maximilian & Temperance; sisters, Jane Teas of Adel and Janet Baker of Story City; and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother James W. Bennett, Jr.
