He was born in Vigo County, on Jan. 12, 1936, to Joseph E. Shields Sr. and Florence V. Jones Shields. He retired from Pfizer Inc. after 30 years of service. Read More	January 20, 2010 Joseph Ezra Shields Jr. FARMERSBURG — Joseph Ezra Shields Jr., 74, formerly of Farmersburg, and for the past 12 years of Parrottsville, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Jan. 18, 2010. He was born in Vigo County, on Jan. 12, 1936, to Joseph E. Shields Sr. and Florence V. Jones Shields. He retired from Pfizer Inc. after 30 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marva Sue Whitkanack Shields, whom he married Aug. 20, 1955; and also was preceded in death by both parents; and two brothers. He is survived by two daughters, Debra Sue Vaughn (and husband Bruce) and Shirley Ann Wright (and husband Rick); and one son, Ronald Joe Shields. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Bill J. Vaughn (and wife Cathy), Crystal L. Stone (and Glen Fields), Jennifer S. Church (and husband Elijah), Brian Wright, and Joshua L. Stone. Other survivors include nine great-grandchildren; as well as his mother-in-law, Bertha Whitkanack; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Drive, on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010, at 1 p.m., with Pastor Harley Thompson officiating. Burial is in New Harmony Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
