He was the loving husband of Temby Peters Lloyd. Born on November 5, 1964 in Mexico, he was the cherished son of Julie Dawson Lloyd and the late Robert “Red” Lloyd of Richmond and Jose Martinez Bocanegra of Phoenix, Arizona. Joe was a fun-loving, hard-working, and kind-hearted man. He enjoyed hunting, horses and dirt bike racing. Joe was preceded in death by his dad, Robert Eugene “Red” Lloyd. In addition to his mother and father, he is survived by his wife, Temby; son, Joseph Paul “Ryan” Lloyd; sister, Carmen Martinez Bocanegra Dickey and her husband, Curt, of Richmond; brothers, James Dawson Lloyd and his wife, Tracey, of Hanover, Robert E. Lloyd Jr. and his wife, Shannon, of Bumpass, and John William Lloyd and his wife, Jamie, of Bumpass; special cousin, Dwayne Lloyd and his wife, Connie, of Gordonsville; brothers-in-law and best friend, Ricky Peters and his wife, Brenda, and Roger Peters; sister-in-law, Dawn Peters and her husband, Josh Brown; mother and father-in-law, Paul and Betty Peters; special VCHSS family; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. A funeral service, conducted by Stewart Jones, will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 28 at The Emmanuel Church of the Nazarene, 401 Dixie Airport Rd., Madison Heights. Interment will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30 at Gammon Lloyd Family Cemetery in Bumpass. The family will receive friends at other times at the residence of Paul and Betty Peters, 183 Shearingham Dr., Madison Heights, VA 24572. Memorial contributions may be made to the Amherst County Human Society, 322 Shelter Lane, Amherst, VA 24521.
