Description	:	Joe Mims, 89, went home to be with the Lord November 6, 2020. Graveside services will be held Monday at 11 AM at Grove Hill Cemetery conducted by Reverend Will Altman. Those serving as pallbearers will be Marvin Lawson, William Lawson, Mark Barber, Brad Taylor, and Howard Cross. Joe was the son of the late Charles Book and Maggie Hill Mims. He lived his entire life in Darlington county, except when he served his country in the United States Navy. Those serving as pallbearers will be Marvin Lawson, William Lawson, Mark Barber, Brad Taylor, and Howard Cross. Joe was the son of the late Charles Book and Maggie Hill Mims. He lived his entire life in Darlington county, except when he served his country in the United States Navy. He had a long and prosperous career at James River and retired with over 40 years of dedicated service. He, along with his late wife, Nan, where dedicated servants to the Lord. They were members of Trinity United Methodist Church, and the Charles Wesley Sunday School Class. After Mrs. Mims passed away in 2010, Joe was steadfast in his dedication to his church. As long as he was able, he was there. Over the years he had served Trinity in many capacities, one being the annual barbeques that lasted over 50 years, and another as a founding member of the Trinity Men's Club Ice Cream Social. When it came to making ice cream, he was the master! He loved coaching baseball and the boys he has coached span over three generations. He enjoyed playing golf and was a member of The Darlington Country Club for many years. He was also quite the gardener. Surviving are his wife, Barbara Mims of The Manor, His son Mitch Mims and wife Donna; his daughter Robynn Taylor and husband Brad; his brother Charles Mims and wife Doris; his grandchildren, Heather Gainey and husband Derrik, Chad Mims, Robby Veronee, and Gage Taylor; his great-grandchildren, Samantha Odom, Brayden Mims, Demi Gainey, Shane Gainey, Mason Gainey, Blake Gainey, and Bane Veronee. He was predeceased by his grandson, Christopher, and eight brothers and sisters. Memorials are suggested to Trinity United Methodist Church, Post Office Box 16, Darlington, SC 29540
