Mr. Gordon was 48 years old at the time of his death. May 18, 1892, Mr. Gordon married Miss Pearl Tippett, of What Cheer, Iowa, who preceded him in death. Three children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Gordon, of whom two survive the father: Thomas Gordon lives at Albia, and Jackaline Gordon makes her home with her uncle. Joseph Gordon was a member of the K. of P. order of What Cheer, Iowa, and also was a member of Local No. 550 of the United Mine Workers of America. At the time of his death he was employed by the Central Iowa Fuel Company. Mr. Gordon was a member of the Episcopal church of What Cheer. The services were held at the home of his brother and were conducted by Rev. Frederick Donovan. The body was taken to Oskaloosa for interment, where additional services were held.
