Description	:	Unity – October 28, 1940 – Joseph H. Farwell, 60, known for the past 30 years throughout the state as a starter for many of the fair associations, died Sunday morning very suddenly about 10 o'clock at his home. He was born in Thorndike, the son of the late Oscar and Lydia (Ware) Farwell. Farwell, 60, known for the past 30 years throughout the state as a starter for many of the fair associations, died Sunday morning very suddenly about 10 o'clock at his home. He was born in Thorndike, the son of the late Oscar and Lydia (Ware) Farwell. He was actively identified with many fraternal organizations: a past noble grand of Invectus Lodge I.O.O.F., a member of the Rebekahs, of the Masonic Lodge, and order of Eastern Star, as well as being a valued member of Harvest Moon Grange of Thorndike. Mr. Farwell is survived by his wife, Mrs. Julia Farwell; a son, E. Sam Farwell of this town; and two brothers, William and Dick Farwell, both of Thorndike. Funeral services will be held from the late residence Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with Rev. Henry Osgood, pastor of the Pittsfield First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be in the Farwell Cemetery in Unity.
