Mr. Van Deest was born in the Netherlands and came to this country as a youth. He worked as a carpenter both at Orange City and Sioux Center. He was married 36 years ago to Miss Jennie Juffer and is survived by his widow and two children, Ray Van Deest and Mrs. Earnest Mulder, both of Sioux Center.
