Isaiah Enfield, one of the best known and most highly respected of the early settlers of Boone County, died suddenly, at his home in Woodward, Sunday afternoon, January 22. Mr. Enfield had been in his usual health and his sudden death was a surprise and shock to his family and friends. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon from the Quincy church in Marcy Township of which the deceased had been a devoted member for many years, and the remains were laid to rest in the Quincy cemetery. Mr. Enfield was a native of Indiana, and was imbued with the true Hoosier spirit of manhood and integrity. He came to Boone county in 1852, and settled on the farm in Marcy township, where he reside until a few years ago, when he retired from active life and moved to Woodward to spend his declining years in peace. He was the father of ten children, six of whom, with the devoted wife and mother, have preceded him to the better world. Four sons, Homer of Washington, Norris of Humboldt county, Thomas L. of Ogden and Gilbert L. of Marcy township, survive, and have the sympathy of a large circle of friends in their bereavement.
