Read More	"Joe" Spence Dead Former Well Known St Anthony Farmer Dies at Crookston, Minnesota Joseph Spence, for many years a well known farmer living three and one-half miles southeast of St Anthony, died suddenly at Crookston, Minnesota at 4:30 Monday afternoon of heart disease. The news was received here Wednesday evening when the funeral party, composed of Mrs Spence and children, reached this city from Crookston on their way to St Anthony. Mr and Mrs Spence had been at Crookston since last March, making their home with their children. Mr Spence had been in poor health for the past six months. His death was very sudden however. He was seen to fall to the floor by his daughter, Mrs Frank Buchanan and died shortly after being helped to a chair. Mr Spence was 54 years old and was a native of this county. He was a son of the late James and Linnie Bryant Spence and was born on a farm two and one-half miles south of Clemons. He lived in the St Anthony Clemons neighborhood all his life until he moved to Crookston last spring. Mr Spence is survived by his widow and six children -- Mrs Frank Buchanan, Elzie Spence and Theodore Spence of Crookston, Minnesota; Mrs Robert Bryant and Miss Fern Spence of Clemons; and Mrs Moses Bryant of St Anthony. One brother, Albert Spence of Vernon Center, Minnesota and two sisters, Mrs John Deal of St Anthony and Mrs Michael Herman, formerly of St Anthony but now of Vernon Center, Minnesota also survive Mr Spence. All of the children were in Crookston, Minnesota when Mr Spence died. The funeral was held from the Christian Church at St Anthony at 10 o'clock this forenoon, Rev W H Sandy, until last Sunday pastor of the St Anthony church, but now of De Moines officiating. Interment was in the Clemons Cemetery. Thursday August 17, 1911 Evening Times Republican.
