Read More	Shelburne Free Press & Economist, June 30, 1948 - Page 2 JOHN JOSEPH EXELBY: Following an illness, the death took place in Toronto General Hospital on Sunday evening, June 13th, 1948, of a well known and highly respected resident of Shelburne in the person of John Joseph Exelby. Mr. Exelby was the son of Mr. William Exelby, Horning's Mills, and the late Mrs. Exelby. He was born in Norwich 57 years ago and while still a youth moved to Mulmur Township with his parents. In 1917 he married Florence Violet Lomas, and moved to Shelburne. Of a quiet and retiring disposition, he was much devoted to his home and family circle. He leaves to mourn his wife, three sons, Basil, Lloyd and Donald, and one daughter (Marjorie), Mrs. Wilmott Ferris, and also his father and three brothers, Edgar, Horning's Mills, Albert, Craik, Sask.; and Robert, Fort William; also three sisters (Leslie), Mrs. Harvey Beaton, Mansfeild; (Mabel), Mrs. Jim Thompson, London; (Annie) Mrs. Alfred Peterson, Blue River, B.C. The funeral took place Wednesday afternoon, June 16th, from the Gamble Funeral Home, to Shelburne Cemetery. Service was conducted by Rev. H. O. Hutcheson, of Trinity United Church. Pallbearers were five brothers-in-law: Stanley Lomas, Percy Lomas, Clarence Wieland, Jim Thompson, Harvey Beaton, and one brother, Ed. Flowerbearers were: Messrs. James Ferris, Bert Morrison, Sam Tremain, Ed. Mandley, Raymond Peterson and Albert Mews. Floral tributes were Pillow, wife; wreaths, the family, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Wieland and family, Mr. and Mrs. Tuck and family, J. W. Robinson and Employees, Ernest Bros. Co. Ltd., Mount Forest; Sprays, Mr. and Mrs. Percy Lomas, Mr. and Mrs. Garfield Ferris, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Beaton and family, Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey Ferris, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Exelby, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Pierce and the Halliday family, Mr. and Mrs. James Ferris, Walter Gamble, Mr. and Mrs. Orville Ferris, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Ferris, The Neighbors, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Gower; baskets, Stanley Lomas, Toronto Rehabilitation School. Friends were present from Toronto, Brampton, Guelph, Owen Sound, Oakville and London.
