McKone of Westernport, who died Tuesday morning, was held from the residence Thursday morning at 9:30 o'clock. High Requiem Mass was celebrated by the Rev. Thomas E. Gallagher, pastor of St. Peter's Church, Westernport, assisted by Rev. T. B. Kenny of All Saint's Chapel, West Forest Park, Baltimore. Mr. McKone was born in Cumberland, Md., and received his education at St. Francis College, Brooklyn, N. Y., and Rock Hill College, Md.... Mr. McKone was born in Cumberland, Md., and received his education at St. Francis College, Brooklyn, N. Y., and Rock Hill College, Md. He was a prominent business man, being associated of late years in the wholesale confectionery business with his son-in-law, Mr. Thomas Whelan, conducting business under the name of Potomac Candy Company of Piedmont. He was upright and honorable in all his affairs both social and business. He was a man held in the highest esteem by the entire community, progressive, cultured and of a genial disposition. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Margaret (Getty) McKone; two sons, John J. McKone, cashier of Tunnelton Bank, Tunnelton, W.Va., Wilmot McKone, employed in the office of the Western Maryland Railroad Co., at Westernport; one daughter, Mrs. Thomas Whelan, and five grandchildren; his four sisters, Mrs. M. P. Kearney, Hot Springs, Arkansas; Mrs. Charles P. Harvey, Parkersburg, W.Va.; Mrs. Andrew Knell Jr., Baltimore, Md., and Miss Ella McKone, Piedmont. The funeral services were largely attended, many out of town people Being present, all joining in sympathy with the family and relatives in their bereavement."
