His parents, Alois and Ethel Recker and twin brother, James Recker preceded him in death. Joseph was born December 3, 1935 in Earlville, Iowa, the son of Alois and Ethel (Besler) Recker and graduated from St. Patrick’s High school in Ryan. He married Barbara A. Machart on April 26, 1955 in Prairieburg, Iowa. Joseph worked for the Men’s Reformatory in Anamosa for 12 years, Rockwell Collins, and retiring from Aegon in 2002. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion, Knights of Columbus and a volunteer at Jones Regional Medical Center. Joseph was a man of strong faith-practicing and living it daily. His family and friends were an important part of his life and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Promise House in memory of Joseph.
