Description	:	Joe J. Roy, formerly a resident of Sherman county, died at a Grand Island hospital, Wednesday night, May 7, following an illness of four weeks. Mr. Roy was 59 years of age. Mr. Roy was born January 28, 1888, in Platte county to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Roy. When he was 20, he moved with his parents to the Ashton community and settled on a farm near there. Mr. Roy was born January 28, 1888, in Platte county to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Roy. When he was 20, he moved with his parents to the Ashton community and settled on a farm near there. He and Miss Kathryn Kaminski were married Sept. 7, 1908, at Ashton and began their home there. Later, Mr. Roy entered the employ of the T.B. Hord company and operated grain elevators for the company at various locations in east central Nebraska. Mr. Roy and his family moved to Grand Island 15 years ago and he followed the carpenter trade until four years ago when he purchased a service station, which business he disposed of recently because of his health. Surviving are his wife, three children, Martin Roy and Mrs. Ed Sobieszyk, Grand Island, and Mrs. Al Ballard, Mill Valley, Calif.; his mother, Mrs. Anna Roy, Omaha; six brothers, Jacob Roy and John Roy, Loup City, Adam Roy, Oklahoma City, Michael Roy, Ashton, George Roy, Cotesfield and Frank Roy, Omaha; two sister, Mrs. Kathryn Woitasczewski, Minneapolis, Minn.; and Mrs. Anna Kellogg, Omaha; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Martin Roy, who was killed in service during World War I. Funeral services were held from St. Mary's Cathedral in Grand Island Saturday morning. The requiem high mass was celebrated by Rev. Carl Hayden and burial was in the Ashton cemetery. Rev.
