His earthly duties had subsided. He leaves behind his beautiful wife he adored for 58 years, Catherine V. Lord, formerly Catherine Lemieux, and his five children, and their spouses, Frances Corriveau of Northampton, Mass., and partner Elaine Reall, Daniel Lord of Concord, N.H., John and Linda Lord of Hallowell, Raymond and Hope Lord of Winthrop, and Mary Tracy and Keith Harris of Benton. Additionally, he leaves behind seven grandchildren, Christi Bartos, David Ware, Matthew Lord, Angela Robertson, Edward Tracy, Melissa and Nicole Lord, and two great-grandchildren, Kelson Robertson and Brian Ware. Joseph "Joe" was born in Broadalbin, N.Y., on March 14, 1917, and graduated from Winslow High School in Winslow. He served for seven years in the Army, five during World War II, where he was a decorated soldier in the 936th field artillery battalion. He served admirably in many campaigns in North Africa and in Europe, including the storming of Anzio Beachhead, on the coast of Italy. After the war, Joe was hired as a Class D millwright at Scott Paper in Winslow in 1946. He became a Class A millwright in 1964 and retired from Scott in 1979. He spent 47 years as a committed member of his local Catholic church, Immaculate Heart of Mary. Joe was a lifelong member of VFW post 6924 in Fairfield, as well as an active member of the Fairfield American Legion and the Knights of Columbus.
