Konesky was born in Slovakia, Jan. 6, 1869 and came to America when he was 17 years old. He worked in the coal mines in Pennsylvania for a short time and then decided to go to Canada where he was employed as a railroad worker. Later he moved to Sand Coulee. He was married at St. Ann's Cathedral May 2, 1892, to Elizabeth Kopsky. They moved to the Tiger Butte country where they homesteaded for a short time. He sold the farm and moved to Sand Coulee where he was again employed in the mines. He was one of the first miners in the Stockett area and spent a number of years there as foreman of the Cotton Wood Coal Co. In 1916 he purchased the Heber ranch, south of Stockett, where he moved with his family. He was engaged in raising stock and grain there until 1940 when he moved to Great Falls. Mr. and Mrs. Konesky observed their 50th wedding anniversary this year. Because of Mr. Konesky's illness, no celebration was held. He was a member of the First Catholic Slovak Society and the National Slovak Society. In addition to his widow, survivors include four sons, Joseph of Eden, George of Sand Coulee, Thomas and Cyril of Stockett; five daughters, Mrs. George Altishin of Portland, Ore., Mrs. Mike Gondeiro of Waltham, Mrs. Joseph Super of Sand Coulee, Mrs. Charles Fish of Calvert and Miss Patricia Konesky of this city, 15 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
