The Rev. Msgr. Alvan P. Heuring, of St. Michael's Catholic church officiated at the 2 p.m. service. Kriva died August 11, 1984, at Marshalltown Area Community hospital. Burial was in Oak Hill cemetery , Belle Plaine Joe Plesek , George Musel, Craig Musel, Glenn Blaha, Richard Cernin and Charles Whitsell were pallbearers. Mrs. Wayne Parizek was organist. "How Great Thou Art" was played. He was born March 15, 1912 in Czechoslovakia, the son of Joseph Kriva and Marie Vanek Kriva. He came to the United States in 1921 and up until he became ill was farming. He married Beatrice E. Kralicek , January 11, 1935, in Waukegan , Illinois. She died April 30,1970. He married Carrie Hilligas in Tama on June 18, 1973. He was preceded in death by his first wife, one son, Joseph Kriva III, and two grandchildren. Surviving him are his wife, Carrie Hilligas Kriva; six daughters, Patricia A . Boyd, Elm Grove, Wisconsin; Mrs. Kenneth (Judith A.) Kenner, Chelsea ; Mrs. Edward (Beatrice A.) Gordon , Santa Ana, California; Mrs. James (J o Ann) Van Weelden , Fairfax; Mrs. Norbert (Merrie A.) Hanzelka, Sandy, Utah; and Mrs. Donald (Ann K.) Johnson, Blairstown; also, stepchildren, Mrs R.D. (Virginia) McFatridge, Chelsea; John, Florida; Earl, Little Rock, Arkansas; Merle, Blue Mound, Nebraska; Calvin Hilligas, Mrs. Richard (Elsie) Bloome, Chelsea; Mrs. Fred (Dorothy) Prusha, Chelsea; Mrs. Olle (Nancy) Boone, Mrs. Larry (Doris) Frese , Chelsea; and Mrs. Robert (Frances ) Kaufman, Traer; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and 53 step-grandchildren.
