Rogers passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Clarence Cleveland at Oak, Nebr., Saturday November 8, 1941, at 10:30 p.m., after a long and painful illness of seven months, at the age of 87 years, 3 months and 3 days. He was born in Lancaster, Mo., August 5, 1854, and came to Nelson, Nebr.in 1878, where he was united in marriage to Daisy May Norwood of Nelson on December 25th, 1893. He was born in Lancaster, Mo., August 5, 1854, and came to Nelson, Nebr.in 1878, where he was united in marriage to Daisy May Norwood of Nelson on December 25th, 1893. To this union were born twelve children, five of whom preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn his passing, seven children: five daughters, Mrs. G.W. Patterson, Des Moines, Iowa; Mrs. Clarence Cleveland of Oak, Nebr.; Mrs. B.B. Holden of Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. E.F. Luther of Silver Creek, Nebr.; Mrs. Earl Gharring of Nelson, Nebr.; two sons, James R. Rogers, Indianapolis, Ind.; Ulysis W. Rogers of Chicago; and nine grandchildren, besides a host of other relatives and friends. He was a member of the Nebraska National Guards and served until he got an honorable discharge. He was also a member of the Sons of Veterans of the U.S.A. He became a member of the Christian Church in the year 1867 at Lancaster, Mo., and after coming to Nelson he placed his membership here with the local church. The funeral services were held at the Christian church at Nelson on Wednesday afternoon, Rev. C.M. Foust officiating. Interment was made in the Nelson Cemetery. The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, November 13, 1941. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Joseph married Melissa/Melssia Kenny Nov 1, 1884 and she passed away in 1887.
