He was born July 20, 1924, in Drakesville to Emmett and Ella Wheeler Proctor. He married Doris Bailey April 20, 1946. She preceded him in death May 15, 2003. A resident of Ottumwa most of his life, he was a general manager for M.L. Van Fossan Company for over 27 years, and retired from Manatts in 1992. He was born July 20, 1924, in Drakesville to Emmett and Ella Wheeler Proctor. He married Doris Bailey April 20, 1946. She preceded him in death May 15, 2003. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and he enjoyed fishing, camping, boating and woodworking. Surviving are two sons, Verlin (Barbara) Proctor of Ottumwa and Robert (Lynn) Proctor of Muscatine; two daughters, Donna (John) Hindman of Louisville, Kentucky, and Carletta (Randy) Creek of Ottumwa; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and special friends, Randy and Karen Bitner. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Mathew Andersen officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. today with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or Hospice.
