Paul's furniture truck that he died Sunday night at eight o'clock. At the same time Glen West was badly bruised. Hare did not regain consciousness at any time. It appeared that his head was injured, and also that he was injured about his chest, as he breathed with difficulty. Hare and West had started to go to Huntington, intending to look for work, and were walking on the Light Harness pavement south of town. Tom Paul driving E. P. Paul's furniture delivery truck came along, and the boys got in to ride. The end gate of the truck was sticking out behind, being supported by a chain. The boys instead of getting fully into the bed of the truck, sat down on the end gate with their feet hanging over the edge. When a short distance north of the Eire crossing the chain broke under their weight and both fell to the pavement. Paul did not hear the end gate fall, and kept on the corner, south of the railroad. Then he looked behind, missed the boys and drove back. Before he could get back U. R. Young and a truck driver named Aughinbaugh came along, both arriving about the same time. The two men were then lying on the pavement. Hare did not seem to be breathing at all but West, while unconscious, was breathing. Hare was laying face downward. Young hastened to the nearest house to telephone for help. And when he returned Paul and others had arrived. The boys were loaded into the furniture truck and quickly brought to Dr. I. E. Perry's office. The accident is a regrettable one. No blame in any way attaches to the driver or owner of the truck. When the boys got onto the truck to ride Tom Paul asked them to get into the car with him, but they preferred to ride back in the body of the machine. West, in speaking of the accident after he had regained consciousness is said to have said Paul was in no way to blame for their injuries. The funeral will be held at the Methodist church Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock. Rev. B. M. Beckdolt will conduct the service and burial was in Oaklawn cemetery. Mr. Hare was the son of Heber Hare and wife and was born in North Manchester 22 years ago August 30. Besides the parents, eight brothers and sisters are living, William, James, John, Ethel, Josephine, Helen, Mary and Marjorie. He had been at Akron, Ohio, until recently, but after a visit with his parents, started to Huntington to look for work.
