Description	:	Funeral services for Joseph Leo Thompson, 47, of Council Bluffs, were held Tuesday, August 10, 1971, at 2:00 P.M. at the Beem Balford Chapel in Council Bluffs with Msgr. Albert L. Davideander officiating. Mrs. Fred Ratke was organist and serving as pallbearers were Walt Jones, John Young, John Ebert, Herbert Brockman, Laurence Swigart and Norbert Pinley. Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery. Joseph Leo Thompson, the son of Snowed and Nora (Finnegan) Thompson, was born May 17, 1924, at Dow City and attended schools in Dow City and Dunlap. He has worked for the City of Council Bluffs the past 25 years. He died August 7, 1971, following a short illness. Preceding him in death were his father, mother, one sister, Anna Mae, and one brother, Jack. He is survived by his wife, Sophie, two daughters, Margie Sorensen and Paula Joe at home, two sons, Randy and Gary all of Council Bluffs; one sister, Mary Bell Wageman of Defiance, two brothers, Al of New Orleans, Louisiana, and Gene of Climax, Michigan, many other relatives and a host of friends.
