Myers was born December 23, 1859 in Carter Co., Tenn., and departed this life Jan. 28, 1919, aged 59 years, 1 mo. and 5 days. He was married to Mary Cannon Feb. 23, 1888. She was called to her rest Dec. 12, 1914. To them were born six children, three sons and three daughters, of whom two daughters and one son are dead. Myrtle who died in infancy, Iva who died when seventeen and Laurence who died only Monday morning. The three living are Mrs. Fern Nelson of Viola, Fred, somewhere in France and Frank now of Viola, having recently returned from England where he was in service for his country. He was proud of these boys in service. Soon after his marriage he came from Tenn., to Bushton, Kan., moved from Bushton to Caldwell, from Caldwell to Wellington where he lived for a period of ten years, and from Wellington to Viola in the year 1899, where he lived until death. Besides his three children he leaves three little grand children, Herbert, Merle and Eileen, children of Mr. and Mrs. Nelson, whom he loved much. He also leaves two brothers and one sister, one brother in Oregon and the other brother and sister in Tenn. He was a member of the M. W. A. here and a member of the Fraternity Aid Ass'n. of Wellington. He was especially fond of singing, particularly old songs. In his earlier life he led the service of song in the church services. He had directed singing classes. He also taught school in Tennessee. he was a kind and brave hearted father, an appreciated citizen and an esteemed and honored neighbor. Frist of all he will be missed by his own loved ones, and also by other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were conducted at the home Jan. 30, by F. E. Carey and interment was made in the Viola cemetery.
