Description	:	Joseph Linwood Holmes, 76, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2017 at his residence. Mr. Holmes was born September 14, 1941 in Conway, South Carolina, a son of the late Walter Finley and Clara Lee Harding Holmes. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Freddie Carol Moore Holmes and his three siblings; Finley Mickey Holmes, Richard “Dickie” Lane Holmes, and Delores Arleen Holmes Stanley. Read More	Joseph Linwood Holmes, 76, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2017 at his residence. Mr. Holmes was born September 14, 1941 in Conway, South Carolina, a son of the late Walter Finley and Clara Lee Harding Holmes. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Freddie Carol Moore Holmes and his three siblings; Finley Mickey Holmes, Richard “Dickie” Lane Holmes, and Delores Arleen Holmes Stanley. Mr. Holmes retired from Horry County School District with 29 years of service where he taught school for 22 years and was bus supervisor for 7 years. After his retirement, he continued to tutor adults and children within his community; helping many people to advance in their classes or earn their GED. Mr. Holmes was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church where he previously served as a Deacon and on the cemetery committee. He was an avid outdoorsman who especially enjoyed deer hunting and fishing. Mr. Holmes is survived by his two children; Robert “Bobby” Linn Holmes and Melanie Arleen Holmes Long (Kevin), all of Conway; his four grandchildren, Trina Cooke (Billy), Kyle Lee (Kylie), Hannah Caroline Holmes and fiancé Josh Ward, and Holly Christine Holmes; two great-grandchildren, Kaisley Cooke and Ellisyn Jo Lee; daughter in law, Lisa McDonald; his special cousins who helped care for him, Mary Ann Rish and Peggy Wheeler; his caretaker, Sara Janosevich; his current wife, Linda Holmes. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at Bethlehem Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Kinlaw officiating.
