Description	:	June 23, 1894 --- March 13, 1989 Joseph Matthew Shaw, 94, of Meservey, died Monday (March 13, 1989) at the Belmond Hospital, Belmond, of natural causes. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church, Meservey, with the Rev. Richard Dunn officiating. Burial will be in the Norway Township Cemetery, Kanawha. Mr. Shaw was born June 23, 1894, near Kanawha to James and Kari (Tvedten) Shaw. He attended school in the rural Kanawha area. On May 9, 1917, he was married to Sadie M. Hefte at Eagle Grove. Mr. Shaw was born June 23, 1894, near Kanawha to James and Kari (Tvedten) Shaw. He attended school in the rural Kanawha area. On May 9, 1917, he was married to Sadie M. Hefte at Eagle Grove. They farmed near Belmond, Latimer and Kanawha. Following retirement, they moved to Meservey. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fulton Funeral Home in Belmond. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Wilbur (Bernice) Lindsay, New Hartford; Mrs. Evan (Caroline) Neve and Mrs. Orvaille (Evelyn) Engelman, both of Austin, Minn.; and Mrs. Lester (Aldoris) Lindsay, Cedar Falls; four sons, Donald of Austin, Minn.; James, Riceville; Robert of Hampton, and Orlan, Spring Valley, Minn.; three sisters, Mrs. Hilda Hoel, Meservey; Mrs. Elida Severson, Menominee, Mich., Mrs. Martha Murley, Sparta, Wis.; 28 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife on Jan. 28, 1972, one son, one daughter, three sisters, five brothers, one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
