Description	:	Joseph Miller Messamer was born in Maryland July 11, 1847 and died at his home in Dallas County, Iowa, December 29, 1910, aged 63 years, 5 months and 18 days. He moved with his parents to Huntington County, Pa., in 1860 and to Iowa in June 1871. He was married to Mary Catherine Myers January 16, 1872. To this union were born nine children, six sons and three daughters. Besides these, one son-in-law and four daughters-in-law, thirteen grandchildren, three brothers and two sisters, are left to mourn his departure. Read More	Joseph Miller Messamer was born in Maryland July 11, 1847 and died at his home in Dallas County, Iowa, December 29, 1910, aged 63 years, 5 months and 18 days. He moved with his parents to Huntington County, Pa., in 1860 and to Iowa in June 1871. He was married to Mary Catherine Myers January 16, 1872. To this union were born nine children, six sons and three daughters. Besides these, one son-in-law and four daughters-in-law, thirteen grandchildren, three brothers and two sisters, are left to mourn his departure. Mr. Messamer united with the Church of the Brethren, known as the Dunkard Church in the Aughwick congregation in Pa., and was chosen a deacon in the Panther Creek congregation, of which his wife and children were all members. Mr. Messamer located on his farm northwest of here in 1872, and except for one or two short periods of absence, had continuously lived there until the time of his death. He was then identified with the growth and development of the Panther neighborhood from an early day and saw a comparatively new country grow into a thickly settled, well improved and prosperous section. Mr. Messamer was of the very best type of citizen, a man of honesty and integrity, such a man as adds to the worth of any community and to which his death becomes a decided loss. The funeral services were held at the Panther church on December 31st and the interment was at the Dunkard cemetery. The community where he lived will long hold his name in memory and will extend sympathy to the family so suddenly bereaved.
