Read More	Joseph Mullendore and Elizabeth Baker were married on Feb. 21, 1863, in Whitley County, IN. Columbia City Post Wednesday September 2, 1903 Whitley county has sustained another great loss in the death of a well known and pioneer citizen – Joseph Mullendore. Two weeks ago Sunday the deceased suffered a paralytic stroke, rendering him unconscious for a few hours. Medical aid was summoned, but his advanced years were not in his favor, and he lingered until Sunday night about 12 o’clock, when the end came. For the last few years he has resided on his farm in this township, just south of the city. Joseph Mullendore was a native of Preble county, Ohio, where he was born August 1, 1834, making him 69 years and 29 days old at the time of his demise. Our subject was the tenth of a family of twelve children. He was reared upon a farm and remained with his parents in Ohio until 1854, when he came to Indiana and engaged in a saw-mill in Kosciusko county, where he was employed until 1858. His father having some unimproved land, located in Washington township, Whitley county, he settled upon his share of the property and began clearing and improving. His industrious habits and practical management secured for him a fine property, and at death he possessed nearly five hundred acres of valuable land. Mr. Mullendore has always advanced, as far as he was able, all measures of progress, and ranked as one of the leading and valued citizens. He was united in marriage in 1863, with Miss Elizabeth Baker, who was a native of Whitley county, and daughter of Jones Baker, deceased. Mrs. Mullendore’s death occurred just seven weeks ago Sunday. Her demise weighed very heavily upon his mind, and probably hastened his end. To their union were born eight children, viz: - Noah, Aaron, Irvin, Franklin, Harvey, Mesdames Dora Moyer, A.M. Obenchain and Emma Pence. The funeral occurs today at 10 o’clock from the Eberhard church, Rev. A. Leathers officiating. Interment at church cemetery.
