Mr. Burroughs was born in Conway, a son of the late Wade Oscar and Theodosia Parker Burroughs. He was a member/Deacon of Kingston Presbyterian Church and was owner of Joe O. Burroughs Oil Company. Read More	Joseph Oscar Burroughs, Sr. CONWAY Joseph Oscar Burroughs, Sr., 85, of Long Ave. Ext., died Friday, Sept. 12, 2003 at his residence following an illness. Mr. Burroughs was born in Conway, a son of the late Wade Oscar and Theodosia Parker Burroughs. He was a member/Deacon of Kingston Presbyterian Church and was owner of Joe O. Burroughs Oil Company. Mr. Burroughs was formerly a S.C. Highway Patrolman and a member of the original Horry County Police Commission. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, where he served in the South Pacific as a Military Policeman. Mr. Burroughs was a member of "Donzelle's Afternoon Coffee Club" and was predeceased by his wife, Mary Elks Stanley Burroughs. Surviving are three sons, Joseph Oscar Burroughs, Jr. and his wife Nancy of Conway; Robert Stanley Burroughs of Murrells Inlet and John Benjamin Burroughs of Conway; six grandchildren, Mary Alyson Burroughs, Joseph Matthew Burroughs, Jessie Elizabeth Burroughs, Susan Evans Burroughs, Carolyn Sydney Burroughs and Mary Stanley Burroughs and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Kingston Presbyterian Church with Rev. Don Stiens officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeside Cemetery, directed by Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
