Mr. Lavery was born Sept 1, 1920 at Frontenac. He was a machinist 38 years for Kansas City Southern Railroad. He was graduated in 1938 from Frontenac High School. He was a machinist 38 years for Kansas City Southern Railroad. He was graduated in 1938 from Frontenac High School. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Frontenac American Legion Post No. 43. He married Wilma Benner on Sept. 11, 1947 at Chicopee. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Donna Cronister, Pittsburg, and Janice Sighel, Capaldo; three sons, Steve Lavery, Shreveport, La., Robert Lavery, Allen, Texas, and Dennis Lavery, Frontenac: three sisters, Rita White, Nashville, Tenn., Mary Eileen McQuade, Ellin wood, and Margaret Caruso, Frontenac; two brothers, Thomas J. Lavery, Baxter Springs, and Robert E. Lavery, Salina; 12 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Frontenac. The Rev. Patrick York will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Pittsburg. Pallbearers will be Matthew Cronister, Keith Cronister, Tony Sighel, Mark Lavery, John Lavery, Jim Lavery and Adam Lavery. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Friskel Funeral Home, Frontenac, where family will receive friends after the rosary. Lavery on September 11, 1947 in Chicopee, KS; he preceded her in death on June 29, 1996. She was a homemaker, a member of the Sacred Heath Catholic Church, the Frontenac Eagles Auxiliary and the Frontenac American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors include 2 daughters Janice Sighel of Frontenac, Donna Cronister of Pittsburg; 3 sons Robert (Bob) Lavery of Dallas, TX, Steve Lavery of Shreveport, LA, Dennis Lavery of Frontenac, KS; a brother Eugene Benner of Hutchinson, KS; 12 Grandchildren and 15 Great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 9 brothers, 1 sister and a grandson Tony Sighel. Mass of Christian Burial will be 2 p.m. Friday June 25, 2010 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frontenac with Father Robert Spencer as celebrant; burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. The parish rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Friskel Funeral Home in Frontenac where the family will receive friends following until 8 p.m. Friends may call the funeral home after 4 p.m. Thursday.
