"JOE" DAMRON KILLED A distressing fatal accident happened near Gull Lake on Wednesday evening, when Joe Damron, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Damron of Bentley was so seriously injured in an auto accident that he died Thursday afternoon about 4:30. On the night of the accident, the deceased, in company with his younger brothers, left Bentley in a car to go to the Landing for a bathe. When close to the lake, the car jumped off the road and turned over twice, the steering wheel striking Joe in the stomach, inflicting fatal internal injuries. He was taken to his home, and medical assistance called, but after an examination the doctors could give no hope to the parents, and the boy sank gradually and passed peacefully away the next afternoon. A very sad incident is the fact that his father was away at a sale of cattle at Brandon, Manitoba, when apprised of the accident, and immediately took the express for home, but failed to arrive before his son's death ensued. The funeral was held at Bentley Saturday afternoon, and was attended by a very large number of friends of the bereaved family. A gloom has been cast over Bentley and district by this sad death. Deceased, who was about nineteen years of age, was a prime favourite with everyone young and old, and will be sadly missed. To the bereaved parents the heartfelt sympathy of their many friends in Central Alberta is extended.
