Washington St., Iowa City, died Thursday, July 13, 2000 at the Lantern Park Nursing & Rehabilitation Center after a long illness. Services will begin at 10am Saturday at the Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service with the Rev. James Vrba officiating. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Mr. Roskup was born Nov. 6, 1916 in Minneapolis, MN to Joseph P. and Pauline (Winter) Roskup. He moved to Iowa City in 1927. He worked as an Iron worker at Hallmark Steel Erection of Minneapolis for a number of years. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Survivors include two brothers, Edward Roskup of Greene, and Jake Roskup of Iowa City; and two sisters, Pauline Coder of Phoenix, AZ, and Rosemary Dahnke of Iowa City. One brother, Andy and three sisters, Annie, Katheryn, and Mary died earlier. NOTE Before moving to Lantern Park, Joseph resided at 320 E. Washington Street, the Ecumenical Center. Joseph resided with his mother at 115 East Burlington St. Iowa City, Ia. until abt. 1964. Joe also lived with his mother upstairs at 607 S. Gilbert from abt. 1964 until 1967. Edward, Twyla, Edward and Teresa Roskup lived downstairs until 1968 when Edward John, Twyla, Edward Joseph and Teresa Moved to 1308 E. Bloomington Street. Joe and his mother Pauline moved to a trailer by the airport until abt. 1974 when Pauline moved to the Lone Tree Care Center where she died in 1986. Joseph Roskup also worked for Boyd and Rummelhart during the mid 1960's as a welder, and received damage to his right eye due to a "hot weld" of metal, and lost part of his right ear due to a "knife fight" in his youth.
