Description	:	Joseph P Gilsinger was born in 1874 in Indiana, to Franklin Gilsinger, who had immigrated from Alsace, France, and Magdalena Nies Gilsinger, from Ohio. He was one of ten children. Joseph married first, Margaret C. Senn (died, 1902 ) in 1896. He married second, Rose Elizabeth Shank from Pulaski, Indiana, in 1903. They had eight children. Joseph, with his partner, John Charles Shank, founded Gilsinger Implement in October, 1899, selling John Deere horse-drawn plows and cultivators in the general store. Gilsinger Implement became the oldest John Deere dealership in the world, and continued to be family run until 2014, when through expansions and mergers it became GreenMark Equipment. Joseph Gilsinger’s sister Anna married his business partner, John Shank. Another sister, Gertrude, married J.P. Falvey, the founder of the Falvey department store chain.
