Description	:	Joseph Ronnie Darner, age 79, of Adelphi, died Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Seasons Hospice of Sinai Hospital, Baltimore. Born February 4, 1939 in Woodsboro, he was the son of the late William A. and Helen L. Swartz Darner. He was the husband of Naomi Elizabeth Kennedy Darner, who predeceased him in 2007. Read More	Joseph Ronnie Darner, age 79, of Adelphi, died Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Seasons Hospice of Sinai Hospital, Baltimore. Born February 4, 1939 in Woodsboro, he was the son of the late William A. and Helen L. Swartz Darner. He was the husband of Naomi Elizabeth Kennedy Darner, who predeceased him in 2007. Ronnie was a 1957 graduate of Walkersville High School, where he played four years on the baseball team as a center fielder. He then served in the Army Reserves for 8 years. During this time he continued his education, graduating from Frederick Community College in 1966, University of Maryland in 1968, and receiving his Masters of Arts in Education from George Washington University in 1974. He was employed for 27 years in the Washington, D.C. school system, retiring in 1995. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Jefferson, College Park Moose Club, and the American Legion, Kennedy-Laurel Post 28, Adelphi. He enjoyed golfing, watching baseball and using the computer. He especially loved walking and his grand-doggies, Brittany and Bailey. Surviving are two daughters, Lisa Marie and husband Rodney and Stacy Elizabeth Fox and husband John, all of Laurel; and brother, Rev. Dr. Thomas C. Darner and wife Ruby of Rocky Ridge. He was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth A. Darner. Interment services will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, 3864 Jefferson Pike, Jefferson at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 22 with Rev. Dr. Thomas C. Darner, officiating. There will be no public visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the , 1393 Progress Way, Suite 908, Eldersburg, MD 21784.
