He was he eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Theo. Schueller of this city. He leaves to survive him his parents and one brother and four sisters. For some years he had worked here in the Muzzle Factory. About two years ago when the factory was removed to St. Louis he went along and worked there for some time. He as a young man of good habits and had a bright future before him and his death is a sad blow to friends and acquaintances here. The following from the St. Louis Globe Democrat gives particulars of his death: "Joseph Schueller, 22 years old, conductor of a freight elevator in the Laclede Hotel, suffered fatal injuries when he was caught between the roof of his elevator and the walls of the elevator shaft at 3:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon. He died while being carried from an ambulance into the City Hospital, twenty minutes after. Schueller had unloaded some trunks on the third floor of the hotel, and had started to descend with the elevator, when he noticed the door on the floor he had just left was unlatched. Reaching up, he attempted to close it without stopping the car, and it is believed his arm was caught. His body was crushed between the roof of the car and the shaft. His leg and kneecap broken, and he suffered internal injuries. Schueller came to St. Louis from Carroll, Iowa, a few months ago. He was an intimate friend of Rev. Thomas V. O'Reilly of Holy Angel's Catholic church." The body was received here Tuesday evening and funeral services were held Wednesday morning from St. Joseph church. The parents and relatives of the young man have the sympathy of the community in their loss.
