On Wednesday morning, at 7:30 o'clock, Joseph T. Reisdorff, of David City, succumbed to influenza-pneumonia, he being the second David City man with whom the disease has proved fatal. He was taken ill with influenza on Wednesday, Oct. 23, contracting the disease from his wife, who had been ill for a week before. Pneumonia developed on Monday of this week and Mr. Reisdorff's condition became critical at once. His death was not due to lack of care, for there has been a trained nurse in attendance at the Reisdorff home since the home went into quarantine. On account of the nature of the disease and there being a ban on public funerals, there wil be short services at the grave in St. Mary's Catholic cemetery tomorrow (Friday) morning at 9 o'clock. A brother, Nicholas Reisdorff, came from Lincoln Wednesday evening and a sister, Miss Anna Reisdorff, came from Fullerton this (Thursday) morning. Joseph T. Reisdorff was 35 years of age. He was born March 28, 1883, on a farm two miles north of David City. His father, John Reisdorff, died 24 years ago, on February 23, 1894 [sic]. His mother, Mrs. Mary Reisdorff, departed this life on April 3, 1916 [sic]. Four brothers and four sisters survive Mr. Reisdorff. They are Nicholas Reisdorff of Lincoln, John Reisdorff, living on the valley, Jacob M. Reisdorff of David City, Peter Reisdorff, who recently left Camp Lee, Va., for France, Mrs. Susie Birkel and Mrs. Mary Hilger, living near David City, Miss Anna Reisdorff of Fullerton and Mrs. Margaret Drozda of Raymond, Wash. He is also survived by his wife, who before marriage was Miss Marian Lanspa, and to whom he was married on January 15 of this year. He built a fine home in David City for his bride and had located here permanently. All of his life was spent in Butler county except six years that he was in Petersburg and two years in Shelby.
