Description	:	The Oakley Graphic, Feb. 28, 1990 Joseph Theodore Allen was born on a farm near Natoma, KS on March 29, 1908 and died at his home on January 24, 1990. He was the son of John William and Esther True Allen. He and his parents moved to Dickenson County, KS then in 1920 moved to a farm in Gove County, Kansas. Read More	The Oakley Graphic, Feb. 28, 1990 Joseph Theodore Allen was born on a farm near Natoma, KS on March 29, 1908 and died at his home on January 24, 1990. He was the son of John William and Esther True Allen. He and his parents moved to Dickenson County, KS then in 1920 moved to a farm in Gove County, Kansas. In 1923 he and his parents moved to Boulder, CO where he has since lived. Ted served in the US Army during World War II as a Medic and was promoted to a Sargent. While a small boy in Dickenson County, KS, he was taught by his father to play horseshoes. Mr. Ted Allen than became a professional horseshoe pitcher winning ten world championships and was a horseshoe craftsman. He was a charter member of the National Horseshoe Pitching Association and the Colorado State Horseshoe Pitching Association. He was named to the National Horseshoe Pitchers Hall of Fame and the Colorado State Horseshoe Hall of Fame. Ted was and avid bowler and he enjoyed fishing and hunting. Ted is survived by one sister, Frances Myrtle Stevenson of Oakley, KS and twenty-five nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and four brothers. Services were held at 2 p.m. on January 30 at the Howe Mortuary Chapel in Boulder, CO. The Rev. Richard Crompton of the First Christian Church of Boulder officiated. He also did the singing of the hymns. Burial was in the Mountain View Memorial Park Cemetery in Boulder, CO. NOTE: Ted was born on the Phelps place three miles west of Natoma.
