Sharp Services Held At Jamison Joseph Thomas Sharp, 69, a resident of Keya Paha County for many years, died at his home in Martin, South Dakota, Tuesday, July 14th. Funeral services were held at Jamison July 17, in the Methodist Church with REV. G. F. Benter of Burke officiating. Interment was made in the Jamison Cemetery. Mr. Sharp made his home in Keya Paha County and in the vicinity south of Burke for many years. Before coming to this county he homesteaded in Boyd County, which was his home for fifteen years. Joseph Thomas Sharp was born on September 4, 1872, at David City, Nebraska, and passed away at his home in Martin, South Dakota, on July 14, 1942, at the age of 69 years, 10 months, and 10 days, after a long illness. He was baptized in the Episcopal Church and was united in marriage to Miss Elva Smith on July 17, 1892, in which year he homesteaded in Boyd County. To this union were born nine children, one preceding him in death in 1900. His widow, four sons and four daughters survive him. They are Vern Sharp of Burke, Lee Sharp of Naval Training Station, Great Lakes, Illinois, Dale Sharp of Martin, Donald Sharp of Camp Claiborne, Louisianna, Mrs. Lola Hermison of St. Charles, Mrs. Verma Good of Herrick, Mrs. Zelma Irish of Brocksburg, and mrs. Alvena Jackson of Martin. Also surviving him are three sister, Mrs. Ida Kinzer of Colome, Mrs. Celia Wilson of Herrick, and Mrs. Ella Wales of Long Beach, California, 25 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Mr. Sharp passed away on the birthday of his twin daughters and was laid to rest on the birthday of the oldest daughter. It would also have been the goldern wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Sharp. Pall bearers were John Trowbridge, W. B. Umberger, Gid Hamman, Leland Jeffords, Geor. Cady, and Lew Knapp. Flower girls were the granddaughter, Verlene and Jean Sharp, Mildred Hermison, Ramona Irish, and Maxine Good.
