Read More	CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Joseph Wilfred Maurice Lachance, 84, died on Tuesday evening, July 19, 2016, at The Pavilion of Brightmore in Charlotte, N.C., with his loving family by his side. He was born in Waterville on Jan. 23, 1932, the son of Antoine and Josephine (Fortin) Lachance. Joseph was educated in local schools and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was formerly employed in the finishing department at Keyes Fiber Co. for many years. Joseph was former member of Waterville Council Knights of Columbus #148, a longtime member of the Bourque-Lanigan Post #5 American Legion and the Forest J. Pare Post #1284 VFW of Waterville. Joseph was predeceased by his parents; his beloved wife of 42 years, Emelene (LaPlante) Lachance; two sisters: Theresa LaPlante and Germaine Lachance; and two brothers: Roland and Fernand (Pete) Lachance. He is survived by his four daughters: Debra Nickerson and husband Glenn of Charlotte, N.C., Jolene Marsters and husband Chuck of Portland, Denise Violette and husband Andre of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Anne Patten and husband Bryan of Wadsworth, Ohio; three sons: Anthony Lachance and wife Julie of Littleton, Colo., Timothy Lachance of Syracuse, N.Y., and Christopher Lachance and wife Joan of Warre; and two brothers: Lorenzo Lachance of Cornville, and Florian (Babe) Lachance of Winslow. He also is survived by 18 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Military honors and burial of his cremains will be held at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive in Augusta. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be sent to The Denver-Senegal Humanitarian Foundation, P.O. Box 271043, Littleton, Colorado 80127. This foundation was started in part by his son Anthony and spouse Julie Lachance. It is a non-profit organization providing educational opportunities and materials to the youth of several villages across Senegal. DSHF operations support over 650 youth each year.
