Read More	The Orchard News March 7, 1952 Friday Orchard's Pioneer Business Man Succumbed Joseph William Harmon, son of John Harmon and Elisabeth Millsap was born August 24, 1867, at Blandensville, Illinois and passed away at his home in Orchard, February 28, 1952, at the age of 84 years. He moved with his parents to Milford, Nebraska in 1878 where he resided until he moved with his parents to a farm near Page, in Holt County, Nebraska. After reaching young manhood he attended the Pharmacy School in Omaha and upon receiving his degree, he opened up his drug store in Orchard in 1892 and where he has continued in business up to the present time. Billy, as he was known to many of his friends, first located his drug store on the north side of main street and later moved it to it's present site. His sixty years of service to the community has made him countless friends. He was married to Minnie Tiede, December 22, 1894 and to this union were born one boy, John L. and one girl Florence, who is now Mrs. B.J. Rizor. The mother passed away March 20, 1915 at her home in Orchard. In January 4, 1922, Billy was united in marriage to Sarah M. Tiede, who became a good mother unto the children and who faithfully nurses Billy during his months of illness that eventually caused his death. Mr. Harmon has been a faithful member of the Masonic lodge which he joined in 1914. He was first a member of the Ewing lodge and then later transferred his membership to Diamond Lodge 291, at Orchard. He was a 32 degree mason and a member of the Sioux City Consistory No. 5 at Sioux City, Iowa. He is survived by his wife, Sarah M. Harmon, one son, John, one daughter, Florence one brother Ernest Harmon, of LIncoln, one sister, Lizzie Schick of Kalamazoo, Michigan; two grand daughters, Mrs. Mary Lou Voorhies, of Orchard, and Miss Margaret Rizor, of Lincoln, three great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in the Hamilton Undertaking parlors, Rev. W. Millett officiating and interment was made in the Orchard cemetery. Pallbearers were: Gordon Drayton, Gurney Drayton, Leon Mitchell, Wm.
