Description	:	Josephine Verrips, 94, of Sioux Center died Thursday, June 19, 2008, at Royale Meadows Care Center in Sioux Center. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Central Reformed Church in Sioux Center, with the Rev. R. Van Rathbun officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Josephine (Abma) Verrips was born April 25, 1914, to Theodore and Johanna Abma, in Springfield, S.D. She attended country school until she moved to Sioux Center, where she began work at the age of 15. She married Gradus Verrips on Feb. 23, 1939, in Sioux Center, where they made their home. She cleaned homes and later worked at the De Bruin Shoe Store in Sioux Center. She also worked at K-Products in Orange City, Iowa. After her retirement, she was a volunteer and loved being a Foster Grandparents in Rock Valley, Iowa. She was a member of Central Reformed Church, where she was a member of various women's groups. She enjoyed working in her garden, making quilts, crossword puzzles and playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved to cook and was known for her delicious food, especially her apple pies which were always a treat, especially at family reunions. Survivors include two children and their spouses, Thorval and Pat Verrips of Woodward, Iowa, and Jan and Gary Mishler of Le Mars, Iowa; seven grandchildren and spouses, Wendi and Mat Peterson of Woodward, Iowa, Evan Verrips of Woodward, Becky Verrips of Woodward, Kim and Kirk Holzman of Le Mars, Iowa, Sherry Wielenga of Remsen, Iowa, Amy and Rick Hicks of Sergeant Bluff and Krista and Branden Gramlow of Le Mars; 11 great-grandchildren, Kyle, Cory, Mikayla, Tyler, Jasmine, Haley, Josie, Jaiden, Kaylee, Dawsen and Daven; a sister and her husband, Gladys and Gary Verrips of Sioux Center; a sister-in-law and her husband, Pearl and Vern Sjogran of Redlands, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a sister and brother-in-law, Harriet and Chuck Sitter; a sister-in-law, Jo Verrips; a brother-in-law, Paul Verrips; and a sister-in-law, Nellie Verrips.
