Mass of Christian burial was Saturday, June 20 at 10 a.m. at St. Boniface (Idylwilde) Catholic Church, rural Freeman, with Rev. Matthew Vazhappilly and Rev. Leonard Kayser officiating. Burial was in St. Boniface (Idylwilde) Cemetery. Pallbearers were Larry Sees, Paul Sees, John Sees, Doug Pavelka, Greg Andersen, Roger Wollman, Jeff Cole and Gary Townsend. Josephine Elizabeth was born in a sod house in Turner County (rural Freeman) on April 5, 1911 to John and Lena (Schweitzer) Heirigs. She married Lawrence Andersen on June 14, 1934 at St. Boniface (Idylwilde) Catholic Church and from this union they had two children: Lawrence (Larry) and Rosemary Sees. She lived on the same farm until 1999 when she began living with her daughter, Rosemary due to health issues. Josephine then moved into Sunrise Apartments in Yankton, S.D., on Aug. 1, 2003 and in April 2005, she went to Oakview Terrace in Freeman. Josephine cherished God and her family. She was a lifelong member of St. Boniface (Idylwilde) Catholic Church of rural Freeman as well as the extension club, Friendly Neighbor Club and in her later years, the Turkey Ridge Senior Citizens. She loved to cook, bake, hand-quilt and sew on her treadle sewing machine. Her memory will be cherished by her son, Lawrence "Larry" (Sharon) Andersen, Jr. of Freeman; daughter, Rosemary (Arthur) Sees, Mission Hill, S.D.; grandchildren: Greg (Joan) Andersen, Dawn (Roger) Wollman, Kim (Jeff) Cole, Laurie (Gary) Townsend, Jean (Doug) Pavelka, Larry, Paul and John Sees; great-grandchildren: Mike (Cathy) Andersen, Matt Andersen, Taylor, Jordan, Tabitha, Natalie and Nicholas Townsend, Rachel, Daniel, Joseph and Jacob Pavelka; great-great-grandson, Samuel Andersen; and sister, Lucille Healy of Yankton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence in 1972; two infant sons; one infant great-grand-daughter; and brother, Laurence Heirigs.
