Visitation will be Sunday, May 18 from noon to 6 p.m. at Tennant Funeral Home, with vigil and rosary at 6 p.m., also at the ftmeral home. Mass of Christian burial will be Monday, May 19 at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Blanco officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Fields was born April 28, 1912, to Victorinus Peter Scheck and Mary Ann (Meier) Scheck in Walker, Kan. She married Fred Sanders in Victoria, Kan. They moved to Iliff in 1934, and then to Sterling. During World War II, they owned the Blue Bird Cafe and Station. Josie owned several cafes over the years. After Mr. Sanders died, she married Peter Fields in 1960. The couple ran a trucking business. She was a member of the Elks ladies pinochle club, the Legion of Mary and the Altar and Rosary Society Mrs. Fields is survived by daughters Dorothy Neel and husband Glenn, Grace Blankenbeckler and husband Edwin, all of Sterling and Mary Jane Rickert and husband Ronald, of Powell, Wyo.; grandchildren Timothy Neel and friend Susan, Glen Neel Jr., Sandra Hasch, all of Greeley, Debbie Becker and husband Tom, of Merino, Cindy Potter and friend Brett, of Sterling, David Blankenbeckler, of Longmont, Darrin Blankenbeckler and wife Julie, of Buena Vista, Steven Rickert and wife Rebeca, of San Antonio, Texas, Denise Barnes, of Belgrade, Mont., Gary Rickert, of Bakersfield, Calif, and Troy Rickert and friend Barbara, of Lakewood; and brother Jacob Wittman, of Ventura, Calif She was preceded in death by husbands Fred and Pete; two sisters; one brother; and one grandson.
