Description	:	Josephine was adopted at an early age by Alberta Ernestine Allen Shipley and Dr. John B Shipley. She never knew who her real parents were and her adopted mother Alberta died when she was less than 3 years old. Fruitt, 90, formerly of Sidney, died at 2:08 p.m. Wednesday in Timbercrest Retirement Community, North Manchester, Ind. Mrs. Fruitt was a teacher at Laketon Elementary and Sidney Elementary Schools from 1956 to 1964. She was born Feb. 25, 1906, in Wabash County, Ind. On Oct. 10, 1925, she married Floyd H. Fruitt. He died Jan. 11, 1994. Surviving are six daughters, Joan Franklin of Fort Wayne, Norma Rager of Roann, Ind., Carol Richard of South Bend, Janet Michael of Wheaton, Ill., Janine Batta of Lafayette, Ind., and Sharon Dunnuck of Columbia City, Ind.; four sons, Leon of Spring Hill, Fla., Eldon and Danny, both of North Manchester, and Ronald of West Lafayette; 33 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Mrs. Fruitt was a member of Eel River Church of the Brethren, Jackson Township Home Extension Club and War Mothers. She was a graduate of Laketon High School and Manchester College. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Timbercrest Chapel, North Manchester. Burial will be in Ulrey Memorial Cemetery, Kosciusko County. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary, North Manchester. Memorial contributions may be made to Timbercrest's Crestwood Wing or the church.
