Mrs. Hall had been in poor health for a long time, but was apparently little worse than usual. During the forenoon she had suffered with an attack of indigestion, from which she had apparently rallied, and a short time before dusk, she stepped outside the door of her home to take some water to her chickens, when she was taken very suddenly with an attack of apoplexy and died in a very few seconds. Her husband going at once to her assistance found that life was extinct. Josephine, eldest daughter of Joseph and Mary Ann Pilling, was born January 29, 1864, at Kossuth, Iowa. She passed away at their home near Lamoni, February 24, 1930, making her age 65 years, 11 months and 25 days. At Kossuth, she grew to young womanhood and on February 28, 1889, she was married to Robert Hall. To this union were born three children, Mrs. Elva Beck, Wilbur E. and Everett Stanley, all of the Kellerton vicinity. Following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Hall established a home in Roscoe, Iowa, and lived there until 1897, when they came to Ringgold county, Iowa, locating in Athens Township, where they have since resided. While still a young woman, Mrs. Hall accepted Christ as her savior and joined the Methodist Chruch in Kossuth. She later removed her membership to Kellerton where she remained a fairthful and sincere worker until the time of her death. The golden rule was her motto for each day and hers was a life filled with loving thoughts and deeds, not only for her own immediate family, but for more distant relatives and friends as well, and she leaves a place in the hearts of her dear ones and friends which will never be filled. Mrs. Hall leaves to mourn her departure, her loving and devoted husband, three children and six grandchildren, three brothers and five sisters. Her parents and two sisters preceded her in death. Funeral services were conducted from the Methodist Church in Lamoni, Monday afternoon in charge of Rev. J. E. Clark of Kellerton. Her parents and two sisters having preceded her in death, Mrs. Hall departed this life very suddenly the late afternoon of January 24, from an attack of apoplexy. All that loving hands could do was done to restore her to the loved ones, but God saw best to call her home. The funeral was held on Monday afternoon at two-thirty at the Methodist church at Lamoni, conducted by Rev. J. E. Clark, of Kellerton, and burial was made in the Lamoni cemetery.
